It's July which means it's time to honor the brave Mormon Pioneers who risked their lives and gave up nearly everything they owned to make the long trek from Illinois to Utah.
I do this by posting gibe, little jokes that make light of their sacrifices.

You should ask Dave his opinion of pioneer life sometime. He's been known to say things like, "It would have been so much easier to be a pioneer...all they had to do was manual labor." Maybe your stake should send him on trek this year!
ReplyDeleteThat's the best way to honor pioneers really.
ReplyDeleteDear Sir:
ReplyDeleteHow dare you mock our pioneer heritage! How dare you belittle their struggles, trial, and tribulations and trample their memory beneath your privileged feet! Why, my own great great aunt was a child on the handcart pioneers who was accidentally dumped out the back of a handcart as her parents made their way up a long mountainous climb. They didn't realized she was missing until they took a headcount of all 42 children and found they came up one short. Luckily for her she was picked up by the next group of westward sojourners. Sadly, the group that found her was the Donner party. They never heard from her again. So, I implore you, no more mockery of our sacred heritage!
Sincerely,
Ruth Kimball-Benson-Young

Congratulations to Arie and Mindy and their family on their newest addition!!!!!
ReplyDeleteIn honor of your new baby I have come up with a comic caption:
Husband and pregnant wife speaking to friend:
"We don't care if it's a boy or a girl, as long as it's born with all 8 fingers"
Below: How a cartoonist responds to the gender question.
Good luck!!!
