Here's a gag the New Era published several years ago. It was the first gag I submitted to them that wasn't LDS specific. Since then, I've submitted a handful of other secular jokes. But whenever possible I always try to add something in the picture that ties it into the Church. Usually, it's a picture of the temple or a BYU pennant.This time I had the foresight to include a photograph of David Archuleta inside the girl's locker. Pretty remarkable when you consider that this gag was published some two years before Archuleta competed in American Idol.

ReplyDeleteThis time I definitely laughed more at your commentary than the comic itself! I think the set of hot rollers is a good enough LDS indicator. I never knew anyone my age who used them regularly until I went to BYU...
ReplyDeleteFrom what I can tell, there are three pictures in her locker - one of David Archuletta, one of Jacob, and the one only partially showing - which is definitely a picture of The Jonas Brothers.
ReplyDeleteI'm sure the David Archuleta thing (and the subsequent comments) would be really funny if I had any idea who these people are. The last time I saw the inside of a school locker it was adorned with pictures of David Cassidy and Farrah Fawcett.
