Here's a list of phrases you won't see in any reputable phrase book.This strip is similar to another MTC strip I posted here a month ago. But I still posted it today for a couple of reasons: 1) I really like it and 2) in a way, running a similar joke kind of captures the monotony of the MTC quite well, I think.
Starting next week, Elder Van Dyke moves back to the mission field.

I love the poster on the wall. Reminds me of all the posters we had of bucolic lake-side villages and regal mountaintop castles. Of course the real housing tenements of the east-bloc sections of Vienna where we spent most of our time never quite lived up to the vaulted beauty of the MTC decorations.
ReplyDeleteBy the way, the missionary asking all the questions, do you ever develop him in any other strips? He's a lefty with shaggy hair and a penchant for unintentionally disrespectful language ("yo teach"). I think he'd make a great recurring character.
ReplyDeleteYou mean Elder Ryan? Yeah, he ends up becoming Elder Van Dyke's missionary companion again later on his mission. Here are a few examples of their companionship already published.
