More Sci Fi Geekiness
Last week's strip touched on Star Wars, this week's covers both Star Wars and Star Trek. When I created my alter-ego Elder Van Dyke, I removed from him any of my embarrassing geekiness. He doesn't collect comic books, he doesn't know a Klingon from a Cardassian, he doesn't even follow Star Wars. Still, my geeky side can't help but sneak into some of my work from time to time.

It's not all geeky: you never know when being able to speak Klingon will come in handy in the mission field.
ReplyDeleteHa! The Force is strong with this one!
ReplyDeleteAnd, speaking of geeky, here's something for your Gee Whiz file: They guy who played the original Johnny Lingo was also in the Star Trek TOS episode where they first meet up with Kahn. Johhny Lingo was the pilot (in Sulu's place), so not only can he handle an outrigger canoe, he can also pilot a starship!
Kevin, that is really cool Trek trivia. Basically, what that means is that it should have been Johnny Lingo and not Chekov who runs into an extremely ticked off Kahn in Star Trek II since (in a bit of Trek trivia that pretty much any Trekker knows) Pavel Chekov wasn't in the TOS episode "Space Seed".
