As a missionary, I never bothered to learn Celsius. I knew that 0 degrees Celsius was freezing and 100 degrees Celsius would boil you alive, but in between that it was all a guess. According to Google, 25 degrees Celsius is 77 degrees Fahrenheit.

Sister Missionaries at the Grocery Store
I don't pretend that today's gag is particularly great, but I'm really quite proud of the watermelons and apples in this picture. They look good enough to eat.*
*In my opinion, the bread looks pretty good too.

Smiling Exercise
I remember a zone conference once where the APs led us in a series of smiling exercises that would make us appear more friendly. Elder Tom's technique is sound. By holding your mouth open as wide as you can for a few seconds, your smile comes off much more genuine. (This is something I still do to this day prior to having my picture taken.)
The only problem with this technique is that you're occasionally forced to explain to the confused person on the other side of the door why your mouth is contorted in such a ridiculous manner when the door is open much sooner than you were expecting.

A Scout is Clean
With summer winding down, there's just enough time for one last boy scout camp joke.
Today's gag comes courtesy of faithful reader Dana W. who swears* that this isn't based on her own son.
*As far as I know, she doesn't really swear.

Welcome to the Ward
Today's gag is another in the popular* series of "Things Not to Say Over the Pulpit."**
*Popular in the sense that I like it.
**Or more accurately "Things Not to Say off to the Side of the Pulpit."

Ward Newsletter
Several years ago I was the Ward Newsletter Editor. In addition to letters from missionaries, I also crammed the thing full of all sorts of cartoons. In fact, it was in the Ward Newsletter where I first tried my hand at activity pages and puzzles, which lead to three books and a number of appearances in the Friend. (Making it, by far, my most profitable calling ever.)
It was awesome!
It was also something like eight pages long--which is probably why after I was released, the Bishop announced that further Ward Newsletters would be electronic. So, when you want to blame someone for the slow death of print media, you can start with me.

The Mission President
I was always proud of the Mission President character I created for my missionary comic strip. The agitated, harried (and hairless) President captured just the right characteristics of your prototypical Mission President.
My cartoonist friend, Kevin Beckstrom has created a Mission President, though, that blows mine out of the water. If you haven't been following his daily blog, The Beckstrom Buzz, you owe it to yourself to check out his series of Mission President gags. They are my favorite thing he's ever done--and that's saying something. (And check out the temple photo behind the President's desk, it's a small bit of inspired genius.)
