Truth be told, Frankenstein and his bride* never had a good marriage. In fact, they were never married at all. Upon her creation, the "bride" of Frankenstein let out a shriek when she saw her would-be groom and a dejected Frankenstein** destroyed the laboratory, his "bride", and himself.
They're kind of horror's version of Romeo and Juliet.
*She was never given a proper name.
**Neither was Frankenstein, he's simple referred to as "the monster". Frankenstein--as I'm sure you already know--was the name of the mad scientist who created him. Despite that fact, the name Frankenstein has stuck with the monster.
I like the added touch of the dead flowers in the pot.
ReplyDeleteI think it's pronounced "Franken-steen"
ReplyDeleteThis is hilarious.
ReplyDeleteJena, I'm glad you liked the flowers. After I finished this picture I thought I should have included a Venus Fly Trap in the pot. Oh well...
ReplyDeleteAnonymous, while I've never actually seen the original Frankenstein or Bride of Frankenstein, I've seen Young Frankenstein numerous times. In fact, most of what I know of Frankenstein's Monster comes from that Mel Brooks classic.
Aaron, I'm glad you liked it. I just spent the last 30 minutes browsing your art blog. You're amazing! I understand the BYU animation department is top notch, good luck going forward!
Having seen a glimpse of what a discussion with Frankenstein might look like, I can't help but wonder how it would look for other Halloween favorites...Dracula and the Word of Wisdom, or the Mummy and eternal life.
ReplyDeleteI look forward to next year's obligatory post!
