Ye Olde Ward Ball

I'm going in the way back machine for today's comic. This was one of the very first gags of mine published in the New Era. I was tickled to no end when that magazine selected it for a caption contest. So tickled, in fact, that I'm doing it again. Please submit your best caption to today's gag.

More Washing Machine Problems

Here's what caused last week's washing machine problems.

(And here's another missionary strip for your pleasure.)

Turn the Other Cheek

It's March which means it's time for another three weeks of basketball themed comics! This week's gag centers around a problem that, if the stereotypes are true, is rarely a problem for church ball teams: taking one's religion too seriously on the court.

Washing Machine Problems

I think I was tempted to do this once or twice on my mission.

Temple Run

Today's gag is inspired by a true story shared by Jocelyn C.

Missionary Cooking Instruction

At the risk of turning this into a food blog, here's another missionary strip dealing with the stuff.

On my mission, I picked up a number of life skills, including that of following the directions inside a cookbook--as long as those directions were easy and quick. In one area, we had a recipe share regularly with our district meetings, but the majority of my cooking came from a cookbook bequeathed to me by my trainer as he left for home. I, in turn, gave the cookbook to my last mission companion and, as far as I know, it is still blessing the lives of missionaries in Slovenia 20 years later.

Revelations

A couple of weeks ago I was teaching a lesson on personal revelation in Sunday School. And as is my wont to do, I shared a number of my gags on the subject. That's when I realized that my inventory of personal revelation jokes had some holes in it. Today's gag attempts to fill one of those holes.

Now I'll be better prepared when that lesson comes around in another four years!

Pizza?

In my discussions with other return missionaries, I've realized that the sunny-side up eggs served on pizzas in Slovenia weren't so odd after all.
