As you might remember, the
Deseret News is publishing one of my missionary comics strips every week. This has been a hugely rewarding experience for me. Not only has it been the culmination of a childhood dream, I've also experienced a number of firsts: I got my first hate mail* a few weeks ago as a result of the newspaper and this weekend I was treated to my first brush with celebrity!
On Friday, Donny Osmond posted a scanned picture of today's strip on his Facebook timeline and wrote, "I was just sent this cartoon and thought it was hilarious! Thought you would find it amusing as well."
Needless to say, I'm feeling pretty cool right now.

It's probably a stretch to call it hate mail. It's more like slightly annoyed over grammatical error mail.

I have to agree with Donny on this -- it's a good one!
ReplyDeleteIt's the confusion between the Book of Mormon and people calling US Mormons rather than LDS!
ReplyDeleteA member of our ward, who is in the army, said that when playing soccer with his colleagues, they tend to call him 'Mormon' - after the game, someone came up to him and, having misheard the shouts of 'Pass the ball, Mormon' during the game, said "Hello Norman" to him!
Very cool. Now you just need to stick Mitt Romney in one of your gags.
