Playing for the Camera

In my neck of the woods, we are still streaming sacrament meetings, even though most members are back to attending in person. I'm happy we are still offering that service because now days it seems like there's a handful of families in quarantine every week.

On to the subject of today's gag. The all-time greatest General Authority to play to the camera was, without a doubt, Elder Richard G. Scott. He had a way of turning his whole body in the direction of the camera that made it almost seem like he could see right through the television screen into your very soul!

Missionary Bags

I'm of the generation that would sling a backpack on only one shoulder, scoliosis be darned! Apparently, Elder Van Dyke is an old soul.

Wizard or Prophet

It's true: about the only thing distinguishing a wizard from a prophet is the silly hat wizards wear.* And for many wizards, the only thing distinguishing one from another is the style of the silly hat. It makes one feel sorry for poor Dumbledore who had to settle for a most ridiculous hat after Gandalf and all the rest got first pick.

Anyway, to keep it straight in your mind which is a wizard and which is a prophet, I've created this little couplet to help you out:

If upon the head you see a cone,

Tis best for you to leave him alone.

But should you spy his head is bare,

Listen in and get some knowledge there.

*The challenge of distinguishing a prophet from a wizard reminds me of a great joke from The Great Muppet Caper. In the movie, Kermit the Frog and Fozzy Bear are supposed to be brothers. And because of that fact, they are constently being mistaken for each other. This leads to a scene where a father and daughter walk past a dejected Kermit and the daughter says, "Look, dad, there's a bear." Dad then replies, "No, Kristine, that's a frog. Bears wear hats." Thrust in Your Sickle

Missionary work would be much more interesting if we let 18 and 19-year-olds carry around these bad boys. I'm sure a couple of rouge elders would get into a couple of more doors, but the liability to the Church would be through the roof.

Language Mastery

Today's strip isn't far from the truth. In fact, I suspect that for many missionaries, they don't start getting comfortable with a foreign language until they are working with a junior companion who understands far less than they do.

Eternal Punishment

Today's gag comes from Connor and Parker V. who in their duties as Aaronic Priesthood holders have already done plenty of setting up and taking down folding chairs.
