Mormon's Dating Prospects

There is some debate as to Mormon's age when he took command of the Nephite armies. Do a google search and you'll see some sources claiming he was 15 and others claiming he was 16. For the purpose of today's gag, I'm going with 15.*

If you follow me on social media, you'll notice that I've gone dark. I've got little interest in wading into those pools just now. Maybe in a few weeks when things calm down. Maybe I'll swear it off forever. We'll see.

*For the life of me, I can't figure out why anyone would argue that Mormon was 16. Mormon states right there in the scriptures that, "in my sixteenth year I did go forth at the head of an army of the Nephites" (Mormon 2:2). Nobody claims that Joseph Smith was 15 at the time of the First Vision even though he writes that, "I was at this time in my fifteenth year" (JSH 1:7). When I was a baby, my first year was the period of time before my first birthday, my second year was the time between my first and second birthdays while I was one-year-old, and so on and so on, so my 16th year would be when I was fifteen-years-old.
